The infinite possibilities available when making an image of another human being never cease to enthrall me. To think that I could discover a two dimensional representation of something as infinitely complex as one of my fellow beings is almost laughable and yet I can't get enough of the process. The connection that must be achieved is one of my greatest joys.

The West, the road trip, the open space, gather your great American symbols, your Levi's, your car and your camera, gas up, head out!
A couple hundred miles out and the mind gives in to the space and becomes quiet. There is more here then even the myths suggest, an ineffable connection with nature and existence itself.

Back in the beginning of my photography career, I found a book by a Japanese photographer with only Japanese text. I was amazed at the variety of ways he captured people and things and I took on the challenge of being that versatile. I later found out that it was a review of all the leading Japanese photographers of the time. I laughed, but I never recovered. Having a particular style has never appealed to me. I don't want to do the same thing over and over. Each subject tells me how to capture it. Walking the earth (kung fu reference) I am moved at a feeling level and I shoot. That attraction is always familiar, the subject and how to capture is always different.
